“Celebrate Fall in the Mountains at the 2024 Apple Festival”
Families in the Borderland looking for a fun way to welcome the change of seasons can enjoy a day trip to the 2024 Apple Festival, just a short drive from El Paso and Las Cruces.
The festival, hosted by Nichols Ranch and Orchards near Alamogordo, celebrates the apple harvest with live music, a variety of vendors, and, of course, plenty of apples.
Apples, Food, and Entertainment
The 4th Annual Apple Festival will take place on Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, offering a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy the fresh mountain air and stunning views of the Sacramento Mountains while picking their own apples.
As an event that celebrates all things apple, you’ll find plenty of apple-themed treats, including apple pies, apple butter, apple turnovers, caramel apples, and freshly made apple cider.
This year’s festival will feature live music daily, over 20 snack and food vendors, and more than 85 arts and crafts vendors from both Texas and New Mexico. Additionally, the Runyan Ranches Petting Zoo will be available for some kid-friendly fun.

The festival is handicap accessible, with shuttles available to transport visitors from the parking lot to the main barn area.
Getting There
The 2024 Apple Festival at Nichols Ranch and Orchards is conveniently located just 7 miles east of La Luz, NM, and about a 20-minute drive from Alamogordo. It’s an easy day trip from El Paso and Las Cruces. Detailed driving directions can be found on the event’s website.
