“Redwood City Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder in Ex-Girlfriend’s Stabbing Case”

A San Mateo County jury has convicted Jose Enrique Uriarte Martinez of first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with a stabbing incident that resulted in the death of his ex-girlfriend and left her 17-year-old daughter injured. The violent crimes occurred in July 2023 while Uriarte-Martinez was on felony probation. The verdict was delivered yesterday by the San Mateo County District Attorney’s office.

The tragic events unfolded in the early hours of July 30, 2023, when deputies responded to frantic cries for help from a woman in the 3200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, Redwood City. Upon arrival, officers discovered Uriarte-Martinez covered in blood outside the residence. Entering the home, they found a harrowing scene with two victims suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Despite immediate medical assistance from deputies and a swift transfer to Stanford Hospital, Uriarte-Martinez’s ex-girlfriend succumbed to her injuries. Fortunately, her daughter survived the attack. Authorities have classified the incident as a case of domestic violence. Uriarte-Martinez, 44, from Redwood City, was quickly taken into custody and is currently being held without bail.
